New Rattle-Box Object Lesson in “The Vault”

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

It’s been a while, so I thought it was time to add something new to The Vault. So, I just added a simple object lesson about choices that is done using paper clip boxes. The effect is somewhat similar to the famous (or infamous) Three Shell Game. The kids try to keep track of which of the three boxes is full of paper clips, but their always wrong. It is a fun routine that is very easy to do.

Compassion Sponsorship Drive

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

Early this morning, I had the opportunity to assist with Compassion child sponsorship drive at WAKW, a local Christian radio station. I joined some other volunteers in working the phone back to answer questions and assist people in signing up to sponsor a child.

Compassion is a Christian child development organization that that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

I have sponsored children through Compassion for about 15 years. I had the opportunity to visit their headquarters in Colorado Springs, and I’ve seen their work first hand in five countries. I can state with confidence that Compassion is an accountable, effective ministry.

Visit Compassion’s website to learn more. You can even sign up to sponsor a child on-line.

Arkansas Missions Conference

Monday, February 13th, 2006

I just returned from an extended weekend in Russellville. I provided the children’s programming for a missions conference at First Free Will Baptist Church in Russellville. I did three programs, which included magic (of course) and shared some about my trips to India.

I really enjoyed my time there. This was my first trip to Arkansas, but I don’t think it will be my last. I already have a request from another Arkansas church for a series of events this fall.
