Two Weeks in North Carolina

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

Brad being tied up by kids
I have just completed two weeks in North Carolina. Most of the time was spent doing two kid’s camps at South Mountain Baptist Camp. As camp speaker, I did eight programs each week.

It’s a beautiful area. (Although no matter where you want to go on the campground, it’s always uphill from wherever you are.)

A lot of kids made some sort of decision for Christ during these two camps.

Over the weekend between the two camps, I got to meet up one of my previous pastors from years ago. I performed for his VBS closing and we got to spend some time together and catch up.

At this point, I feel like I’ve been doing kids camps forever. I am enjoying it, but I’m sore, tired and my bug bites have bug bites! Only one more week to go before I get a little time off!

Florida Baptist Children’s Homes Summer Camp

Saturday, June 10th, 2006

I just completed the summer camp for the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. For over 100 years, they have been working with disadvantaged, troubled, abused and abandoned boys and girls. The camp was held in Central Florida. (Unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit Mickey, but that’s OK.)

This camp has a wider age range than most kid’s camps. The campers varied in age from 6 to 18. These are kids who are residents of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes.

It was a great camp. I consider it a privilege and an honor to be able to partner with a ministry like this.

Foursquare National Convention

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

I just returned from the 2006 National Convention of the Foursquare Church in DC. I was performing as a part of the children’s programs held in the evenings. (I also did a “bonus show” one afternoon when the kids returned from an outing early due to the hot weather.)

The children’s program was very well organized and run. It makes my job much easier and allows me to be more effective when the entire event is done right. It really was a pleasure being a part of this event.

I debuted some of my new Christian character education routines at this convention. The full routines will be used in my summer camp programs which begin in about a week.

In addition to performing, I was also an exhibitor at the convention. I got to meet a lot of Foursquare pastors and church leaders from around the world. I hope to be able to partner with some of these churches in the future.

Between exhibiting and performing, I was busy pretty much all the time. I’m pretty exhausted now. I’ve got a few days to recover and prepare for the summer camps that are about to begin.
