Today is World AIDS Day, designed to raise awareness, and more importantly action, about the AIDS epidemic. It is estimated that over 33 million people around the world are living with HIV. Over 6,000 children are being orphaned by AIDS every day. In the face of numbers like that, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. As a Christian, it can be difficult to know how to respond. We want to help, but we want to be sure that we do it in a way that is consistent with a Christian worldview.
I have a suggestion, Compassion International. Compassion is a sold, accountable, Biblically based organization that works with poor children around the world. You can partner with Compassion to make a real difference. You can make a one time or ongoing donation to their AIDS initiative. You can even choose to sponsor a child who has been affected by AIDS. If you can’t afford to do it by yourself, then perhaps you can sponsor a child as a group. For example, a Sunday School class or small group could sponsor one child.
Go to Compassion’s AIDS Orphan Information Page now to learn more and make a difference.

I recently joined ShoutLife, a social networking site. It is sort of a Christian MySpace or Friendster. As a general rule, I’m not a big fan of Christian “walled gardens,” but I’ve been impressed with ShoutLife. It has a lot of nice features. It also eliminates the objectionable material found on sites like MySpace.
I’m not saying that Christians should abandon sites like MySpace. Both have their place. For example, if you want to have an outreach oriented Church presence, you want to be on MySpace. If you want to meet and mingle with fellow Christians, then ShoutLife is a good choice. Personally, I have a presence on both.
You can visit my ShoutLife here.

I have always provided an assortment of images to help promote the events I do. I just finished creating a new tool to make it even easier to create promotional fliers. You just enter your event details and click the button. Your customized flier will be created and downloaded in PDF format, ready for you to print out to promote your event.
Let me know if you find this useful, and if there is anything I can do to make it work beter for you.
The tool is available on my Promotional Downloads Page.

I just completed a coast-to-coast tour, in less than a week.
It all began Saturday at Christian Worship Center in Barrington, New Hampshire for their Un-Halloween Party. This is a church of about 200 people, and they had around 2,000 people come through their event. I did multiple programs during the evening. Everyone was invited back for church the next day, where I performed again and presented the Gospel.
Monday I was back home in Kentucky. I did two programs for the kids at a local Head Start. This was done through my church, Christ’s Chapel. This is in a community has been the focus of an ongoing outreach program for the past several months. This wasn’t a situation where it was appropriate to do any sort of Gospel presentation, but it was an opportunity to build more relationships in the community.
Wednesday I performed at Harvest Time Assembly in Brentwood, California. They were having a Harvest Festival. Usually, I don’t think it’s a good idea to schedule an outreach event that competes with Trick-or-Treating. However, in this community, it worked well. Due to concerns about gang violence, many people don’t want their kids going door-to-door. This church of about 300 people had an estimated 1,500 people at the community event. I did four performances on an outdoor stage.
It is great to work with churches who really understand that it’s not all about them.
